There is a famous saying – ‘the pen is mightier than a sword’. Have any of you ever wondered where this saying comes from and what it actually means?

Ištrauka

A pen is the beginning of everything; ancient civilizations and societies were formed, manuscripts and the history were documented, books and literacy were created… And none of it would have been possible without a pen. The quote is illustrating the fact that, the influence of the pen (writing and books) is much stronger and more significant than that of a sword (wars, conquer and fights). Spilled blood does not solve the issues it only causes chaos and deaths. I also support this saying that a pen is mightier than a sword, and I am going to try and convince you to believe it too.

As a first example, lets take an instance from our daily lives; when someone hurts you by their physical actions, say, the person hit you or punched you, you know the physical pain will go away eventually. However, if the person wounds you with their mean words (written or verbal), you will remember the hurtful comments for a long time afterwards and will unavoidably keep going back to it over and over again. Indeed, the sword may kill you, and a pen would most likely not, however, wounds, cuts and bruises heal over time, but the emotional wounds stay with you forever…
