Ištrauka

How was everything created? Why does it rain? What happens after we die? In ancient Greece, as more questions appeared, people needed something that could explain them. The Greeks created the mythology. It consists of stories and poems that explain everything which they wanted to know. The myths were spread from family to family, from generation to generation. They have even reached us today. Take a look at perhaps the most famous Greek poet - Homer. His two most famous poems The Iliad and The Odyssey are both based on real history, however, written with aspects of Greek mythology, and both are still known and read nowadays (Listverse staff).

“In the beginning there was only Chaos. Then out of the void appeared Erebus, the unknowable place where death dwells, and Night. All else was empty, silent, endless, dark. Then, Love was born bringing along the beginning of order. From Love emerged Light, followed by Gaea, the earth.” That was the Greek myth of creation, which told them how their world was made (Hunt). Even though the question of creation was answered, there were still more questions about their life.
