Ištrauka

It is hard to enumerate the reasons why Roderick is the way he is. We can only infer that he becomes a victim of circumstances and surrounding area. Roderick's ancient house is bleak and depressing; its inside is even gloomier. This creates stifling and brooding atmosphere that is why the narrator's friend feels very sad and unhappy. Life in this house is slow and monotonous, so we can say, that Roderick's dreary routine is soul-destroying and later or sooner it will bring the devil pay.
